ABOUT

7 Rocky River Run is a charity fun run held along the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton. The event raises funds to address youth mental health issues and the prevention of youth suicide through Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland and R U OK?. 

The event has become Central Queensland's largest charity running event, and is a fun day out for a good cause. You can run, walk, wheel or stroll in 21km, 10km, 5km or 2km distances. Races are also timed, so if you are looking to beat your Personal Best you can try in either distance on race day. 

7 Rocky River Run will be celebrating its fourteenth successful year in 2022 and will be held on Sunday, 22 May 2022 from 5am through till 12pm. 

OUR CHARITIES OF CHOICE

R U OK? is a suicide prevention charity that aims to start life-changing conversations and create a more connected world. Its mission is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully communicate with the people around them and support those struggling with life. This is of particular importance in Central Queensland - an area that has faced a tragic and alarming increase in youth suicide.

 

Suicide is preventable and there are warning signs around it. We believe that the work R U OK? does to raise awareness, reduce the stigma and create an open dialogue is extremely important. It all starts with the simple question of: "Are you okay?".

Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland is an independent charity helping families of seriously ill children. Its purpose is to help keep everyone together and close to much needed, often specialised care - offering the support group a "home away from home". It provides for families by helping to ease the burden of dealing with practicalities like accommodation. In a country as big as Australia, where this care may be far away, this can be a critical, overlooked service.

 

There are now 16 Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia and more than 360 houses worldwide. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

There are four distances to choose from - 21km, 10km, 5km and 2km. You can either run, walk, wheel or stroll, or a mix of a few, in each race distance. You can also race in teams, because let's face it - everything is better when it's done together! 

In 2022, there will also be $4,550 in prize money to be awarded to males and females in the 21km, 10km and 5km races. There will also be a 5km team prize pool to be won.

FACILITIES

More information on event facilities including parking, drink stations, bag drop, race pack and bib collection, bathrooms, first aid, and recovery will be available closer to race day.

REGISTRATION

Register as early as possible online to avoid the rush on race day and gain online discounts. There will also be a registration station on Saturday of race  weekend. 

FAQ's

How do I register a team?


Self registration allows a team captain to set up a team upon registration which will then qualify them and anyone who then joins that team to receive an automatic 10% off their initial registration fee, no link required. Once the team is created, other participants can join the team by selecting the team name when registering. There is no maximum limit to the number of participants that can be in a team. Team members may run any distance of their choice.




Are there medals?


Yes, every finisher will receive a medal.




Can our company be invoiced for staff members who want to compete in the run?


Yes, your company can be invoiced for the number of registrations required. Please contact info@myatlasevents.com.au with the details of the entries required. Upon payment, we will setup a code to share with your employees. This code will default Free of Charge entry at checkout.




Will my run be timed?


Yes, your run will be timed and results will be published online.




What if I wish to change my event?


Transfers to another distance Transfers of distance will be subject to the availability of races. You can transfer your distance via our event entry website up until 5pm Friday 22 April 2022. There is a $10 processing fee.

  3. Enter the new participant’s email address in the email address field
  4. Enter the recipient’s email address again to confirm at Confirm email address
  5. Click Submit
  6. The new participant will receive an email inviting them to claim the registration
  7. Your registration will be canceled when the new participant claims it. You will then be refunded the entry fee less the $10 processing fee.
  8. The new participant will be required to pay for the entry in full.




What is the cancellation policy?


The following refund fees are applicable for cancellations, depending on when the request is received. Refund of 75% up to 4pm, 22 Feburary 2022 Refund of 50% up to 4pm, 22 March 2022 Refund of 25% up to 4pm, 22 April 2022 No Refunds after 22 April 2022 Please contact info@myatlasevents.com.au to arrange cancellation




What are the minimum age requirements?


Half Marathon - 14 10km - 11 5km - 5 2km - 4 Parents not entered in another event must pay entry to run with their child. Parents already entered in another event do not need to pay entry to run with their child. Please leave on your race bib to show you are a registered participant. You will not receive a time in the second distance.




Are prams permitted?


Prams are permitted (for safety reasons please start from the back of the field) in all events. Children within prams (under 4) are free. If you would like the child to receive their own medal please register them as a separate entrant. Please note, for safety reasons, children on bikes and scooters are not permitted in any event.




When can I collect my race number and pack?


Registration to collect race numbers and packs will be at City Centre Plaza (opposite Target), on Saturday 22 May 9am - 4pm. Special thanks to our 5km race sponsor City Centre Plaza for facilitating this. City Centre Plaza is located on the cnr. of Fitzroy and Bolsover Streets. 2km and 5km runners can collect race packs on Sunday morning 7am - 8.15am at Customs House. Please note, no late entries will be accepted on race day.




Is there somewhere to leave my bag during the race?


Bag drop will be available at Customs House, Quay Street, from 5.30am on Sunday morning. Please attach the tear off strip from your race number and attach it to your bag so we can identify your belongings. We do not advise leaving valuables.
